Wait people didn’t know this? Guys this has been part of their brand since they opened thats why people call their shoppers “preps” and “posers.” We laughed when they became popular here in NH because we joked how do you market to eskimos, alas they managed somehow and now we joke that Girls on the East Coast literally look the same as those on the West coast but we are pasty fuckers and drink Dunkin Donuts instead of Starbucks!
To your post about ur college paper, i guess i would have to say social anixty feels like to me that everyone around is seeing only the negative in you as soon as they see you based on images and looks, so to perform a normal task as to talk to another person i dont know feels stressfull because i feel what i might say would just agrivate them more or wierd them out. Its a feeling of not even wanting to communicate because of the possibility of what negetive event might happen.
yea you can “choose” the way you interpret what a slur means the same way you can say that the word “apple” could mean “banana” if you alter the meaning in your brain but in reality, if you say the word “apple” in front of a large group of people who have been exposed to apples their whole lives the majority will think of this
Its funny because cognitively when someone uses profane language it still activates in your parietal lobe and stimulates your amygdala (the brain piece associated with fear and reaction) so while you could pretend it doesn’t bother you it actually did trigger a warning in your brain even if just for a nanosecond. This is the same for any word that regales a negative reaction, like if you were to say vomit, because of the connotation you have been raised with it as an item in your head it too can invoke a negative feeling. So while people say you can change how it affects you, really you are only training your brain not to to activate under fear.
So in order to get points tacked onto our final grade in my music theatre class we have the option of writing the main plot and picking out music for a fake Ballad Opera. I’m going to be doing the “Tale of the Signless” I’ll be posting it here after the last day of class so all my lovely homestuck friends can see!
Hey darlings so I’m writing a paper on social anxiety and social phobias, but alas as an extreme extrovert I’m having a hard time relating to the topic. I know that in the past some of you dealt with some issues pertaining to this topic so if you feel up to it would you mind just explaining a bit how it feels to try and perform “normal” tasks with anxiety.
